October 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm MST
Grades 4-6 will have the opportunity to visit the PTO garden. The smoothie bike will return, a large animal veterinarian will be visiting and students will be able to work in the garden on take-home garden projects.
The students will have 30 minutes to go through four stations in the Highland Arts Garden area:
- Smoothie bike – Students will pedal for a cool treat and then receive a healthy smoothie recipe card to take home.
- Seed bombs – Students will make seed bombs out of clay, soil, AZ wildflowers and water. They will be able to take this project home to spread some beautiful AZ wildflowers in their yards (or another appropriate place) to provide butterflies and other pollinators with nutrients.
- Water bottle spirals – Students will create recycled art from previously used water bottles and sharpies and then decorate the garden area with them.
- Visitor – Students will meet a dairy farmer and he/she will answer questions about milk production and/or participate in one of the following activities: dairy facts game, dairy taste test or farm bingo.
